Our Balance Bike Race Series is designed to offer young riders the chance to showcase their skills, enjoy the spirit of competition, and experience the joy of biking in a supportive setting.
Race Format and Categories
- Entrants per Race: Limited to 6 riders to ensure a focused and safe racing experience.
- Competition Structure: Each category will go through elimination, qualifying races, semifinals, and finals, making every race an exciting journey to the top.

Bike Requirements
- Own Bike: Participants are encouraged to bring their own balance bikes.
- Bike Hire: A limited number of balance bikes are available for hire, ensuring everyone has a chance to participate.

Prizes and Recognition
- Participation: Every racer receives a ribbon, celebrating their courage and participation.
- Awards: The top three riders in each category will be honored with medals and special prizes, acknowledging their exceptional performance and skill.
Event Highlights:
Kick-Off Event: Join us for a spectacular "Come and Try" day on Saturday, February 24th, from 2 PM to 5 PM. This free event is the perfect opportunity for your little ones to experience the thrill of balance bike racing in a supportive, fun, and secure setting.
Monthly Races: The excitement continues with monthly races scheduled on the last Sunday of each month, starting in March 2024. Each race day promises a blend of friendly competition, skill development, and loads of fun, all within the safe confines of our Indoor Bike Park in East Bentleigh.
Race Format
- Entrants per Race: 6
- Structure: Depending on the number of entrants, the competition will include elimination races, qualifying races, semifinals, and finals.
- Final Race: Limited to 6 riders.
Gear Requirements
- Mandatory: Helmets and closed shoes must be worn by each rider at all times.
- Optional: Gloves, knee, and elbow pads.
- Bike Specifications: All balance bikes are welcome, except those that are motorized or battery-powered.
Schedule
- Race Dates: Sundays on 31/3, 28/4, 26/5, 30/6, 28/7, 25/8, 29/9, 27/10, and 24/11 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Cost
- Per Race: $20
- Full Series: Book all 9 races for a discounted price of $150.

Prizes
- Participation: Ribbon for each entrant.
- Medals: Awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category.

Championship
- Overview: A year-end championship will crown the 2024 champion in each category, based on total points scored over the 9 races.
- Points Allocation:
- 1st Place: 10 points
- 2nd Place: 8 points
- 3rd Place: 6 points
- 4th Place: 4 points
- 5th Place: 3 points
- 6th Place: 2 points
Championship Prizes
- 1st Place: Medal and a ByK Bike
- 2nd Place: Medal and a free 12-month membership at Bike Skills Indoor Bike Park
- 3rd Place: Medal and a free 6-month membership at Bike Skills Indoor Bike Park
